  81. AT &F &C1 &D2 S95=44 %E1, followed by a carriage return will generally get
  82. best results from the modem.

  86. The default condition is compression/correction enabled.  For good measure
  87. though, here's a string that works in most cases:

  91. If you want to store this in NVRAM add &W to the above string.  You can then
  92. use ATZ as an init string in most software.

  99. Using a feature found in most communications programs called port locking
  100. can usually increase your CPS speed.  ie for 9600+ modems lock your ports
  101. at speeds of 19200 (usually sufficient) or 38400.

  114. Make sure you have none of the old Telecom Touchfones on the same line.
  115. They send a burst charge down the phone every once in a while that can and
  116. does disrupt your data session.  Just unplug the thing when you call out.

  118. Good question.  It does depend upon your situation, who you are calling,
  119. and what you want to use the modem for.

  125. If you have call waiting enabled, disable it by tone dialling #43# and hang
  126. up when you hear the service tone; call waiting interfers with modem operation
  127. and may be turned back on by dialling *43#.

  133. If you want to get a list of your current modems settings, use the command

  137. It will display your current modems settings stored in NVRAM.. Another
  138. helpful tip is in your comms program turn on 'capture' then issue the AT&V
  139. to save it as a text file [Alt-L in Telemate]. for future reference.

  153. You've got to turn off error correction and compression.
  154. Set the baud rate to 19200.  Use the init string AT&q6 %C0 %M0

  162. First thing, try finding the upgrade to V3.0.1. It helps a bit.

  165. Another way that seems to work is:

  167. Ring the person by voice. Both load up falcon, tell the answerer to put
  168. down the phone and issue a ATA, when you start to hear all the squeeks
  169. issue a ATD and put your handset down.  Oh, for the modem settings, just
  170. used the accepted defaults for falcon, but instead of the last command
  171. being a ATDTxxxxxx phone number just chop it to ATD.

  186. save the whole string in the modem.cfg)

  190. Run Setup, sell Waiting for Call, other person selects Call and enters
  191. phone number press F10... And be off.  If you see it waiting for say more
  192. than a minute something has gone wrong.

  205. have our first prototype going through performance testing at the moment.

  208. They will support IRQs 3,4,5 and 7 or 2 (I think) and com ports 1 through 4.

  211. Yes.  I expect that the new internal will be available with V.FC from first
  212. release.
